How does your media diet impact your views?
Building Bridges Maine will explore the role an individual’s media consumption plays on their perception. Inspired by the Polarization and the Media: Live Discussion session at the Braver Angels Convention in Gettysburg and the series of Walk A Mile In My News events hosted by local Braver Angels chapters in 2022, we will channel Moni Guzman’s “fearless curiosity” to seek to hear the other side.
Four volunteers are completing the following exercise and sharing their experience at the October 23rd event.
The Exercise
Choose a topic and engage media from multiple political viewpoints to learn the differences and similarities in how information is reported and discussed. A list of resources below can help you identify a topic and find diverse perspectives.
Think about the experience of hearing differing voices.

Join the Conversation
Please join us for a conversation about personal media silos, recognizing bias in our own media sources, and the relationship between media bias and polarization. If you are inclined, then consider performing the exercise yourself privately. Mark your calendar to look forward to an engaging session!
